The goal of your resume is to get you in the door, it is a marketing document (a sales pitch) of your best stuff. It is not a listing of every single thing you have ever done. It needs to grab the attention of the reader and show them that you are unique. Your résumé is a written picture of yourself. With a good cover letter, it will help you “get in the door”. Your résumé should also be job specific, and you should rewrite a portion of it for every job in which you apply.
