How to Protect Yourself from Unemployment Claims and Wrongful Termination Lawsuits

You have an employee who continually falls short of your expectations.  You have talked to them, mentored them, pleaded with them and they continually make mistakes, so you terminate them.  Then, no sooner than they are out the door, you are slapped with an unemployment claim or worse yet, sued for wrongful termination.

So, how do you protect yourself from the repercussions of firing a problem employee?  Unfortunately, there is no guarantee you will win your counter-claim, but the only way you can possibly fight it is to DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT!
